DCC Breakout Boards are designed to simplify and organize the connection of large numbers of feeder wires to your DCC (or DC Power) Bus. While they are called DCC Breakout Boards, they can be used with in any situation where power distribution is making a mess of your wiring. On a layout these can be used for powering everything from building lighting to switch machines.
Why Solder and Why not screw terminals? Soldered connections are the most reliable and lowest resistance method of connecting wires. These boards will minimize voltage drop and reduce the cost of your large yard areas. Soldering is also the cheapest connection option – good quality screw terminals and ferrules will quickly add up in cost.
What about suitcase connectors? Some people like them and there is no doubt they are fast to install, but they can lead to very high resistance connections and voltage drops on your line.
These DCC Power boards will accept up to Bus Wires up to 14AWG Stranded (12AWG Solid) and Feeder Wires up to 22AWG Stranded (18AWG Solid). Each plane is solid copper and will handle up to 10 Amps continuously. Simply cut your bus wires and insert one of these boards. From there, 16 pairs of feeder wires can be run to track (or other devices) in the vicinity.
